Household Hints to Prevent Nashville Water Damage

Water damage in your Nashville home can happen because of a number of situations, such as flooding, storms, leaking pipes or faucets as well as leaks in the roof. This could generate many gallons of water, and no one can see it for a while if you are gone.

5. Check into the waterproofing you have on the exterior of your basement or crawlspace, under the soil that is there. If you do not have the appropriate protection, in this area, water can come seeping in easily. It can be a simple fix, although not without a certain amount of expense. It also can take a professional crew or, at least, a heavy equipment operator to do it properly. It requires the extraction of a lot of soil around the exterior wall and applying the appropriate time and effort to seal this relatively porous material against the water table, rising flood from the local stream or torrential rains.

6. BONUS: Check your roof for loose or missing shingles, flashing around the chimney or roof vents. Ensure all of those vents are facing the correct way based on predominate wind direction and set up with the perfect lips that help prevent rain from entering them.
